Historic Oakland Foundation Breaks Ground on New Visitor Center
On September 5, 2023, Historic Oakland Foundation staff, volunteers, and board members along with City officials and Foundation supporters celebrated the groundbreaking for the new Oakland Cemetery Visitor Center.
Joined by our partners at the City of Atlanta, including Mayor Andre Dickens, Parks Commissioner Justin Cutler, Councilmember Liliana Bakhtiari, and Dr. Eloisa Klementich of Invest Atlanta, we celebrated the kickoff of a project that has been decades in the making and which would not have been possible without the many supporters and donors who have made our $14-million Living History capital campaign a resounding success.
The new Visitor Center will allow Historic Oakland Foundation to expand our programming and enhance the visitor experience for all those who enter the gates. The building will compliment and enhance all of the incredible work already happening inside the cemetery walls. We can’t wait to share updates with you throughout the construction process!
