Berkeley Lake Dam Rehabilitation
J.M. Wilkerson Construction Co., Inc. was selected as the general contractor to complete the restoration of the Category 1, Berkeley Lake Dam project in Berkeley Lake, Georgia.
This earthen dam constructed in 1948 is one of the largest in the state. Its structure was damaged in the historic floods of September 2009, when the city experienced a 500 year storm event. Repair work will include installation of an internal drainage and siphon system, installation of a piped drainage system, re-grading of the dam, reconstruction of a portion of River District Drive and installation of associated erosion and sedimentation control measures. The scope of work began with draining the 88 acre lake, including fish removal. This project is on-going and is active within a residential community.
