Lafayette Sustainable Housing

J.M. Wilkerson Construction Co., Inc. was selected as the general contractor for the construction of the new Sustainable Housing development for the Lafayette Housing Authority located in Lafayette, Georgia.

The project consisted of the construction of 30 housing residential units in 15 duplex buildings on two sites. The sites are located on: (1) Foster Circle; and (2) South Steele Street near its intersection with Culberson Avenue. The project is pursuing certification under the LEED for Homes (LEED-H) program. The duplex buildings total approximately 33,816 sq. ft. of heated space and are constructed of wood framing with cementitious siding and brick and cast stone accents. The new buildings occupy sites where there are currently several existing 2 story buildings which must be abated and demolished prior to construction (Foster Circle site) and existing bldg. slabs and foundations from an old school at the Culberson/South Steele site will also be removed.

Project also consisted of parking, site concrete, landscape, hardscape pervious concrete, site grading and utilities, abatement and demolition. The teams completed the project on time and within the owner’s budget.
